Meng-meng is an assistant professor in the Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) Dept. Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, she was a Stadtman Investigator at NINDS (NIH). She trained in the labs of Ben Barres (Stanford, postdoc) and Erika Holzbaur (UPenn, PhD).
Outside of lab, you can find Meng-meng pursuing her many hobbies, like gardening, home renovation, painting, and antiquing.

Meghan is a first-generation college student who received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. She received her Ph.D. in neuroscience from Emory University (Victor Faundez Lab).
Meghan’s work primarily focuses on astrocyte cytoskeleton. She is also working on CRISPR delivery to astrocytes and modeling gliovascular interactions in cell culture.

Naznin is a first-generation college student who received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. She received her Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCSF (Eric Huang Lab).
Naznin works on the blood-brain barrier (BBB) with a focus on vascular dementia. She is also working on microplastics and their effects on the brain.

Amit received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he began his research career studying signal processing and 3D computer vision with Prof. Gordon Wetzstein. He then moved across the bay to pursue his Ph.D. with Prof. Laura Waller at UC Berkeley, working at the intersection of optics, statistics, and machine learning to develop robust and reliable biomedical imaging tools.
Coadvised by Prof. Matei Zaharia (computer science), Amit is currently developing AI-based methods to accelerate the design of RNA-based therapeutics for neurological diseases.
In his spare time, he enjoys dancing, making music, and playing basketball.

Lana received her bachelor's degree in Biology with honors from Stanford University. There, she worked in Dr. David Prince and Dr. Larry Steinman's labs studying post-traumatic epilepsy. After graduation, she joined an early-stage biotech start-up developing long-acting drug-device combination products for neurological diseases. Before coming to Berkeley, she also worked as a research associate in Dr. Eric Huang's lab at UCSF, where she studied lipid droplet accumulation in the Grn KO model of frontotemporal dementia.
Currently, Lana studies Golgi outpost biogenesis and mRNA trafficking in oligodendrocytes.
In her spare time, Lana likes to tend to her rooftop garden, cook, and surf.

Haidyn attended Arizona State University for her Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience, where she was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to earn her Master's degree in neuroimmunology at The University of Sydney in Australia. There, she worked on understanding the role of the complement system in cytokine-driven neuroinflammatory disease.
Haidyn works on Mbp mRNA transport in oligodendrocytes and is currently characterizing a novel mouse model of Laing Distal Myopathy. Haidyn also works on local translation in microglia and self-reactive antibodies in multiple sclerosis.
Outside of her research, Haidyn enjoys teaching and educational outreach. She volunteered at San Quentin Prison as a professor of the Introduction to Neuroscience course. In her free time she also enjoys traveling, camping, and binge-watching reality TV.
